Thank you for the reply, I will check out your PDF-file. Ozone 7 is great for mastering,but this is more versatile I think personally,for the mixing side of things. I am an amateur and struggled with making my sounds,sounding good. Has a learning assistant too which is really cool I have bought Izoptope Neutron,you can use it all across your mixer channels etc.Its really good,check it out on their website

Or at least make it approachable from a different angle: Here's a guide I wrote for people in your situation, maybe it will help simplify the process for you a little bit. There's nothing wrong with experimenting and learning the tools on offer, but consider maybe doing that after you've released the track as a seperate exercise. It's very easy to overprocess your track with something like Ozone and end up creating more problems than were there initially.ДЇor that reason I think a lot of people make mastering their own music a lot more complicated than it needs to be, or assume it will make a huge difference when it might not. Mastering is about fixing specific issues you actually hear, and since it's your song, often it's easier to just go back and fix those kinds of things in mix. Just because you HAVE all those modules to use, doesn't mean you have to USE them all on each song. Live 9's EQ and Compressor are particularly nice for instance.ДЄlso, if you do decide to get Ozone, be careful of falling into the trap I see a lot of people do with it. So I wouldn't get Ozone expecting it to make a huge difference based on what you have already in Live. But like anything, it's just the tools that define the outcome, but the skill of the user as mentioned above. Ozone can be a great tool for mastering, some of the modules in there like the Limiter are very well done. Maybe I wouldn't feel that way if I was 18 and my time was unlimitedвЂ¦ I'd rather find someone that can understand what I want and pay that person for the mastering bit (for releases).

I have a full plate really, writing tracks, playing, recording and mixing. Of course, Ozone can be used for mixing as well and there's never anything wrong with learning or getting new gear if you feel it can do something for you. Simply because I feel the process is more important than the actual tools. While I accept we all need to have a go at some kind of mastering from time to time (I call that pseudo-mastering) and probably become better arrangers and mixers out of the experience, none should expect to have magically 'better sounding' tracks by getting a plug-in nor more than anyone should expect to write instant hit tracks just because they get a great DAW.ДЄnd speaking of DAWs, I've chosen to learn to do any mastering I need to do with what's in Live now and what I have already rather than rely on great tools focused on mastering, of which I think Ozone is one.

That depends more on a range of parameters beyond the software itself, like your actual mastering skill set or the accuracy of the mastering monitor system used. But how much better does your sound get after mastering with Ozone?
